Local Property Services Backed by More Than 30 Years of Hands-On Experience

Total Home & Garden grew out of a lifetime of helping people care for their homes, gardens, and properties. I learned many of my first practical skills from my British father while growing up on Canada’s East Coast. For more than 30 years, I have continued building on those skills through landscaping, lawn and garden care, painting, property maintenance, roofing work, and project management.

What began as helping seniors, friends, neighbours, and local churches has grown into a dependable property service company serving homeowners and businesses in Paris, Brantford, Cambridge, Ayr, St. George, Brant County, and nearby communities.

A Lifetime of Practical Experience

My hands-on journey began in my early twenties, mowing lawns and painting homes during the summers. After studying science and plant biology, I helped manage major environmental projects, including government contracts that planted millions of trees across Prince Edward Island, Ontario, Manitoba, and British Columbia.

Over the years, I also worked with landscaping crews, helped build golf courses, installed hundreds of pallets of sod, restored gardens, maintained properties, and continued developing the practical skills that eventually shaped Total Home & Garden.

I later spent more than 25 years working internationally as an IT project manager across Canada, Europe, and South America. That experience taught me how to plan work carefully, coordinate people, manage schedules, solve problems, and communicate clearly—the same discipline I bring to every property project today.

Even while working in project management, I never lost the satisfaction of working with my hands. Between contracts, I continued painting homes and businesses, repairing roofs, replacing shingles, maintaining lawns, improving gardens, and volunteering my time to help seniors and care for church properties in Brantford and Cambridge.

One Point of Contact, With the Right People for the Job

Today, I lead a small, dependable team and work with trusted trade partners whose skills and experience match the needs of each project.

Some work is completed directly by me and my regular team. When a project requires specialized experience or additional crew capacity—such as a roofing, or a pool install prop—I help coordinate the appropriate trade professionals. They are personal friends I trust. They bring in the heavy machinery to do the big landscaping as well.

That means helping define the scope of work, arranging quotes and scheduling, keeping communication clear, and making sure everyone understands their responsibilities. Before work begins, you will know who will be completing the work, what is included, and how the project will be managed. You will not be left wondering who to contact or what happens next.

This approach allows Total Home & Garden to provide a wider range of services while maintaining the personal attention and accountability of a locally operated company.
